Car history: |
This 1962 Corvette was produced in early January, 1962 with VIN 105822 of 14531. It was fully optioned with the AM signal seeking (Wonderbar) Radio, Whitewall Tires, both the Hardtop and optional White soft top, 340HP Engine(30.36% of total built), 6500 RPM Redline Tach., #1102268 Generator(Both the Tach. and the Generator are specific to the 340HP Engine), T-10 4 Speed Transmission(12-26-61 date on the Shifter Cover, 1-5-62 date on the Tailshaft Housing, VIN 2105822 on the Transmission Case), Positraction Rear Axle(4.11 Ring and Pinion). The exterior is Honduras Maroon, with Black Vinyl Interior.
Two additional rare options were also produced with this Corvette!
1. Power Windows(995 or 6.8% of total built).
2. Power Operated folding Soft Top(350 or 2.4% of total built).
Noland Adams, the foremost Corvette Authority, Historian, and Author of The Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide Vol. 1(1953-1962), documents on page 432 the following: Of the 350 Hydraulic Folding Tops Produced, 138 were White.
It is generally predicted that Corvettes produced with the 340HP Engine and White Hydraulic Soft Top combination were no more than 42, or 00.29% of total built!
It is also generally known that the Power Window and/or Power Soft Top Options were primarily ordered with the 250HP or 300HP Engines. This means that much less than 42 Corvettes were produced with the Power Options and 340HP Engine, even more rare than the Optional 24 Gallon Fuel Tank(65)!
The good news is that all of the original parts are either intact on the Corvette or available for shipment. This includes the Hood, Radiator,Generator, Rear Housing, black wheels and spinner hubcaps, Etc. in addition to OEM in the box Emblems, Front Fender Spears, Etc., and Reproduction Dash Pad(Black), Black Top Tabs, Hose Clamps, Etc.
The bad news is that when I purchased the Corvette in early 1984, the engine only was non-original.
The Bonus is that in addition to everything described above, you are buying a completely streetable 1962 Corvette with current Texas Safety Inspection, License plate Registration(That also presents itself well at the Track!).
The Engine is a 355CID(Engine Dyno at 450HP-have sheets), Built 350 Turbo Automatic Transmission with Trans Brake and Carbon Fiber Shield, 3500 TCI Stall Converter,B&M Reverse Pattern Shifter with Line Lock, Aftermarket Front Disc Brakes, Hooker Pro-Comp Headers with 2 inch exhaust specially fabricated for either closed or open exhaust, Flowmaster Mufflers, electric fuel pump, MSD, Delay Box. The rear housing is custom fitted with a Ford 9 inch with 4.88 Spool, Traction Bars, American Racing 4 inch wide rims on the front with 24 inch tires, American Racing 6 inch wide rims(produced in 1964!) on the rear with M/T ET STREET 28x11.50-15LT tires, Aftermarket Front Hood with Scoop
